This function is used to split a selected surface into two surfaces using a specified line. The dialog box is illustrated in Figure 5.2.20.
● SELECT SURFACE
Click this button to display Select Surface dialog box to select multiple surfaces.
● SPLIT BY
There are eight methods for the user to split the surface.

Figure 5.2.20 Split Surface
1. SELECTED LINE ![]()
The user may select an existing curve in database as split line.
2. NEW LINE ![]()
The user may select up to 500 locations on the surface to define a polygon as the split line.
3. NEW SPLINE ![]()
The user may select up to 500 locations on the surface to define a spline line as the split line.
4. TWO BOUNDARY POINTS ![]()
eta/DYNAFORM splits the selected surface once two points are selected on the boundary.
5. SECTION U-V LINE ![]()
The user can select a U-V line on the selected surface using mouse cursor. The surface will split along the U-V line.
6. SURFACE INTERSECTION ![]()
Once two surfaces are selected, the first surface is split at the intersection line with the second surface.
7. OVERLAP SURFACE ![]()
This function allows the user to split a selected surface using an overlapping surface that is smaller than the selected surface. The first selected surface will split along the boundary of second surface.
8. UV Plane of LCS ![]()
This function allows the user to define an LCS and the surface is split at the intersection line with U-V plane in LCS.
● Define Project Direction
1. Z-Axis
2. View Direction
3. Surface Normal: default option
4. User Define: refer to Section 5.1.4.
● Tol: Define the tolerance of trim line and the boundary after trimming along the projection direction.
